Letters With Hospice

Letters with Hospice grew from my secondary experience of my grandmother's declining health, becoming bed bound, and drifiting in and out of a number of nursing homes.  My grandmother was a close maternal figure in my life. After my grandmother died, I began volunteering for hospice. I asked a few different local creatives to penpal with the patients I would visit. I acted more or less as a mail carrier, delivering the letters back and forth. For the sake of HIPPA, patient names cannot not be shared, so only first initials were used in this process.

The example letters and drawings shown are shared with approval of the writers and receivers.
